CITP - Training Programme 2010
Psychodrama On-going Training Groups
Training in the psychodrama method will assist those in leadership roles to develop their abilities. They will be enlivened and challenged to expand their creative edge and professional competency. Through a greater awareness of their own behaviour and the development of leadership roles, a network of satisfying relationships will be developed and sustained.
Psychodrama is primarily a group method. Developing an appreciation of group dynamics is therefore fundamental in psychodrama training. Specifically trainees learn to recognise and value the sociometry which occurs in groups and work with this both as group member and leader.

Sociodrama Weekend - Combined CC/Int & Int/Adv
For the training event in May, the two Christchurch groups will get together. Training times for this workshop will be Friday 6.30pm – 9pm, Saturday 9.30am – 5pm, Sunday 9.30am - 2.30pm.
"There isn't a single area of human endeavour that could not benefit from our instrument" Zerka Moreno.
Sociodrama is a versatile method that is very applicable to many situations enabling people to expand their role repertoire, explore issues, resolve problems, and develop a deep appreciation of our humanity.
This workshop is designed for people who are either working sociodramatically with groups, or would like to, and want to develop their skills in working this way. Using situations drawn from participants, we will produce sociodramas and enactments relevant to particular situations. Participants can expect to plan and produce sociodramas relevant to their contexts when working with groups ranging from organisations to education to professional and personal development.
Combined Weekend with Dunedin Trainees (in Christchurch)
Note: For the training event in September, Christchurch trainees will meet with the Dunedin trainees, in Christchurch, at the Campbell Centre, 44 Bealey Avenue. Training times for this workshop will be Friday 9.30am – 5pm, Saturday 9.30am – 5pm, Sunday 9.30am - 3.30pm.
Leadership and Facilitation Training (2010C) Training in the Fundamentals of Group Work and Leadership
Many of us spend a considerable amount of our working life in groups and meetings. Some groups function well, while in others poor communication, anxiety and ambivalence create obstacles to the group working productively. In fact, all groups develop in ways that are recognisable and predictable. We can learn to make sense of what is happening, and to make interventions that will minimise problematic functioning.
This training is designed for those who are leading groups or intending to do so. It will also be of value to professionals who seek to expand their ability to participate fully and freely in group situations, increasing their capacity to both contribute to and gain from group experiences. The course serves as both an introduction to group work and as a refresher for those who already have group leadership experience. Participants are involved in reflecting on and using their own experience as a basis for learning. The principles taught can be applied to any kind of group, and will include:
- Planning, preparing for and beginning a group
- Facilitating interaction and responding to group process
- Closing a group
There will be a focus on group work theory, role theory, sociometry and leadership styles through teaching and supervised practice. Participants will complete both written and practical assignments.
